It may not be Thursday, but we’re throwing it back with the early summer playlist. The heat and humidity always take us back to driving by the Ohio River with our windows down, belting whatever was on the radio at the top of our lungs or jamming out to a carefully burned CD from a bestie or a boy we liked. So this playlist is for our 18-year-old selves, driving around in a 13-year-old Volvo with the sun streaming through the roof, playing air piano to our young hearts’ content.
If you, like us, are missing that windows-down-turn-it-up-sing-along vibe, because you don’t actually get to drive anywhere these days, this playlist is for you, too. Close your eyes and you can almost imagine the breeze of the subway is the wind coming off the river, carrying you back to June 2008.
Note: We consulted our actual playlists from 2008 to make these selections — thank you, iTunes! — and it turns out our tastes haven’t totally changed. We still love oldies, indie, and Broadway, and we love a good “Blister in the Sun” jam. Listen with us here, on Spotify, or on YouTube.
